Our Mission
Together for Lasting Hope and Humanity
What started with one dog has grown into a sustained effort to protect and care for those still waiting.
Baja Street Dogs began with a simple act of stopping. What started as one man pulling over to help dogs on the side of the road grew into something far greater.
Founded by Mark Newton, a mechanic by trade, the mission took shape through action. One rescue became another, and over time, a consistent effort turned into a full-time commitment to protecting dogs in need. As the work expanded, the reach followed. Through the Baja Street Dogs platform, the mission gained visibility, connecting a growing community to the realities faced by street dogs across America and beyond.
Based in Todos Santos, Baja California Sur, Baja Street Dogs rescues and rehabilitates dogs throughout the region, preparing them for safe and permanent homes. While many of these dogs are placed with families in California, the work remains deeply rooted in supporting the local community in Mexico.
Beyond rescue, the organization operates bi-monthly clinics providing spay and neuter services, vaccinations, and essential medical care. This work is paired with ongoing education and direct support for local residents, helping create sustainable, long-term change for animals in the region.
Baja Street Dogs exists to do the work where it matters most. On the ground, in the moment, and for every dog that needs it.
